Kate - Somatic Practitioner, Mindfulness Mentor, Meditation Teacher

🌙 About Me

Hi, I’m Kate.

Somatic Practitioner. Mindfulness Mentor. Meditation Teacher. And someone who knows what it feels like when your body finally says, “Enough.”

For more than 23 years, I worked as a Licensed Massage Therapist. I knew muscles. I knew tension. I knew how to find the places that hurt and work to make them feel better.

But eventually, both my professional experience and my own life began showing me that there was another piece of the puzzle.

When Massage Became Somatic

For years, much of my work centered around finding tight muscles and trying to release them—more pressure, deeper work, more stretching.

But I kept noticing something.

The tension came back.

I became increasingly curious about what was happening beneath the muscles themselves. Why does a body continue to brace? Why can someone rest and still feel exhausted? Why can tension return even after we've worked on the same area again and again?

Those questions eventually led me toward somatic bodywork and nervous system regulation.

My approach began to change from “How can I fix this?” to “What is this body communicating, and what does it need?”

Today, my work is gentler, slower, and more collaborative. Rather than fighting against the body, I work with it—using somatic bodywork, mindful awareness, breath, movement, and nervous-system-informed practices to support greater ease, awareness, and connection.

But This Journey Became Personal, Too.

For the past six years, my family has been navigating the incredibly complicated journey of caring for my aging parents, both of whom have Alzheimer's.

For the last two years, they lived in our home with my husband, our family, and me.

I was a daughter. A caregiver. A wife. A mother. A business owner. A practitioner. And like so many women, I became very good at continuing to function while carrying more than I realized.

Eventually, I began experiencing profound burnout, physical and mental overwhelm, emotional anxiety, and physical symptoms for which I struggled to find clear answers.

My body was getting my attention.

And I couldn't simply stretch, massage, meditate, or push my way through it.

That chapter of my life led me deeper into understanding the nervous system and exploring somatic practices—not as another thing I needed to “do better,” but as a different way of relating to my body.

I began learning how much our bodies can communicate through tension, sensation, energy, breath, and patterns of protection. I began paying attention instead of immediately trying to make the sensations disappear.

That experience fundamentally changed the way I care for myself—and the way I work with others.

Mindfulness Was Already Part of My Foundation

Long before somatic work became the focus of my practice, mindfulness and meditation were teaching me how to slow down and become curious about what was happening within me.

I completed nearly three years of training to become a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, and mindfulness remains at the heart of everything I do.

My experience also includes Reiki and energy work, crystal practices, Tarot, Divine Feminine Healing, and Journal Therapy—modalities that have deepened my understanding of self-awareness, reflection, and the many ways we reconnect with ourselves.

But mindfulness is more than a credential to me.

It's a way of living.

It taught me that awareness doesn't require judgment. That we can notice without immediately reacting. And that sometimes the most meaningful change begins when we stop trying so hard to escape what we're feeling and become curious about it instead.

Somatic work brought that same philosophy into the body.

Why Lotus Balance Somatic Wellness Exists

Today, all of those pieces come together here.

23+ years of hands-on bodywork.

Mindfulness and meditation training.

Somatic education and nervous system support.

And lived experience of what it means to carry too much for too long.

I especially understand the woman who looks like she's handling everything.

She's working. Caring. Planning. Showing up. Taking care of the people she loves.

From the outside, she may look completely fine.

But inside, she knows something has changed. She's exhausted. Her body feels tense or uncomfortable. Her mind doesn't easily switch off. Rest doesn't always feel restorative. And the things that used to help aren't helping in quite the same way anymore.

I know that woman because I've been her.

Lotus Balance Somatic Wellness grew from my belief that we don't always need another way to push through.

Sometimes we need a place where we can stop.

Listen.

Reconnect.

And begin building a different relationship with our bodies.

I don't believe my job is to fix you. My role is to bring everything I've learned—professionally and personally—to create a supportive space where you can become more aware of your body, understand its signals, and discover practices that support greater regulation, resilience, balance, and ease.

Your body isn't separate from your life.

And sometimes, changing the way you experience your life begins by changing the way you listen to your body.

Welcome to Lotus Balance Somatic Wellness. I'm so glad you're here.
